When we arrived at lunchtime the power was out. Valerie, the owner told us it was expected to be back on shortly so we returned 45 minutes later. We ordered French onion soup and Valerie chatted to us as she prepared it. The soup was excellent and so was the service. It's a delightful place.

La Scie? What happened there well over 100 years ago, in 1906, is part of the King family story--quite a story. There, my oldest brother, Joseph was born ... Of course, by all who knew him, he was later called 'Joe.' Our mother, Maud Beatrice Kelloway (then 20 ... father, Eleazar, was 26--both working as fishers on a schooner), must have had a sense of humour ... otherwise, how come she named her first son, 'Jo-King'? There is more to the story.
